The Mahatma Gandhi University Nalgonda was established in 2007 by the Andhra Pradesh government in present-day Telangana’s Nalgonda district. It is a popular institution recognised by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a ‘B+’ grade. Once known as Nalgonda University, it was later renamed Mahatma Gandhi University in 2008. Initially headquartered at Nalgonda town during the academic year 2010-11, the university’s permanent campus is being developed on 240 acreages of land allocated along the Anneparthy state highway of Nalgonda-Narketpally which is seven kilometres distant from Nalgonda town.
MGU Nalgonda offers many undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs ranging from M.Com, M.Sc. to MSW. The Mahatma Gandhi University Nalgonda campus infrastructure offers a range of facilities to support the academic and personal needs of its students and faculty. Ranging from a vast library and health services to spacious conference halls, MGU Nalgonda facilitates a variety of academic and extracurricular activities, fostering a vibrant campus environment.
Library: The library nestles diagonally on top of the campus and has a floor area of 27,600 sq. ft (2566. 3 sqm). Facilitating the needs of the students as well as the faculty it has a collection of nearly 39,000 books and currently subscribes to 55 national and international journals.
Health Facilities: The services are available in the health centre located within the campus to attend to all the health needs of the students as well as the members of staff. There are specialist doctors from Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospitals (Narketpally) who are available for any type of medical exigency, and the centre has essential medicines.
Hostel: Mahatma Gandhi University Nalgonda campus offers two different accommodations for girls and boys separately, and all the required services for making the students comfortable and giving them a homely feel are arranged. Being a residential campus, it has 2 boys’ hostels and 1 girls’ hostel with adequate accommodation for 1700 undergraduate & postgraduate students.
Conference and Seminar Halls: The total number of students that the university has enrolled in all the courses offered is two thousand. The seminar hall has a seating capacity of up to 1,000 people depending on the kind of event that is taking place; examples include; conferences, student meetings, and cultural shows, among others.
